Boating Patrol and changes to our J number conditions

A grower was pulled over by boating patrol last week and told we can no longer use the boats with J numbers for fishing etc. The fine is very high (over $2,000) . They will be enforcing the new changes to the J number conditions, so no more fishing etc if you have a J number on your boat. They will also be checking safety gear and making sure you have a “life jackets sticker” if you don’t have your life jackets on display. I am looking into this and will let you know if this is a fact and exactly what the changes are and why we where not notified.
